The Show
Influenced by the classic routines of sketch shows like “Saturday Night Live”, “Laugh In”, and “Kentucky Fried Theatre”, Fantastic Genius is a colourful, fast paced, high-energy multimedia sketch show. Running an intense 25-30 minutes, each performance pokes fun at current or social events, exaggerates interpretations of real life situations and relationships, parodies pop culture references, slams corporate lifestyle issues and weaves them all together with video, music, and stage routines.
Based out of New York City’s Gotham City Improv, one of New York’s longest running theatres for improvisational comedy, Amy Daulton and Alex Decaneas write, perform, and dare audiences with their entertaining and weird brand of sketches… all the while maintaining their marriage. The show celebrated its 3 year anniversary this June, and has been showcased all throughout the NY comedy scene, as well as on the festival circuit.
The Players
Amy Daulton (Writer / Performer)
Amy Daulton sucks at writing bios. She is a stand up, sketch and improv comic who has performed nationally and internationally. While in Los Angeles, she performed alongside Fred Willard in the sketch group, Mohos. When not performing in Fantastic Genius, she can be seen nightly spitting her dope jokes in the New York City alternative comedy scene. Amy loves spaghetti, but hates paper cuts. Amy lives in New York City with her kick ass husband and very cute dog.
Alex Decaneas (Writer / Performer)
Alex Decaneas is a commercial actor, professional improviser and sketch comic performing regularly throughout NYC and internationally. Outside of Fantastic Genius, he can be seen at Gotham City Improv in a number of their house shows. Before residing in NY, he was part of SitcomBoston, a long form improv group that produced television sitcoms on the spot. Theater credits include: Twelfth Night, The Tempest (at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Hard Times, Bus Stop, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. When not performing, Alex sings karaoke, makes short films, and takes naps. The quickest way to get his attention is to offer him chocolate malt shakes. Alex is married to Amy… and the lord.
